Our story

The meaning behind Ikoi

Welcome to Ikoi.

憩 (Ikoi), pronounced ee-koh-ee, is a Japanese word whose kanji carries its meaning in its structure: breath, heart, spirit. Allowing yourself to slow down. To exhale. To enjoy being together.

That feeling is the whole reason we exist. We keep a collection of homes in Big Bear Lake, and we tend to them so guests can take a deep breath, settle in, and let the mountain set the pace.

We believe hospitality is quiet work: the kitchen stocked, the linens fresh, the details cared for. However our collection grows, every home is kept personal, looked after as if it were our own, with a real person always a message away.

Come make your stay a meaningful one, full of moments worth remembering.

A place to land

Made for slow mornings

Our homes sit close to the lake and the slopes, yet far enough into the pines to feel like a retreat. Inside, they are warm and unfussy: room to gather, quiet corners to read, and what you need already in its place.

Clear instructions, thoughtful touches, and a real person to reach if anything comes up, so the only thing on your schedule is the morning itself.

What guides us

What we hold ourselves to

The principles behind every stay we host and every home we care for.

  • Quiet by design

Calm, uncluttered homes that let the mountain do the talking.

  • Cared for like our own

Every home is prepared to the same exacting standard, stay after stay.

  • Of this place

We know Big Bear, its seasons, its corners, its best days, so our guests get real recommendations and steadier care.

  • Kept personal

However many homes we care for, each one, and each guest, gets real attention.
